My Danfo Valentine

A decade ago, stuck in Lagos traffic inside a crowded Danfo bus, I saw a guy. On his lap sat a cardboard box with a cake. Tied to the edge of the box were red balloons. But the most compelling part? The serenity and poise on his face – on a hot, sweaty day, while looking like everything in his life was exactly as it should be. This painting is my love letter to that quiet, unshakable romantic.
